Trellis Café

Hi everyone! I have another food review for today and I am so excited to share how wonderful this little café is.

Trellis Café can be found in the Des Moines Botanical Garden. This cafe is a quaint little restaurant tucked in the back of the gardens and looks out over an small pool attached to the terrace of the gardens. Unfortunately, it was cold this past weekend so we opted to sit inside; however, I can’t wait to come back in the summer and look out over the pond.

Not only was the environment of the cafe picturesque and absolutely adorable, but the food was delicious. I ordered 1/2 the Egg Salad Sandwich and 1/2 the Creamy Berkwood Pork Pasta. I am not a big egg gal, but the sandwich was served on toasted wheat bread and was complete with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. The pasta was also absolutely delightful and I would definitely order it again.

If you’re looking for food made with ingredients so fresh you can taste, this is the place to go. The environment and taste of the food time the whole place together, not to mention the beautiful views at the back of the cafe. Needless to say, if you’re ever around downtown Des Moines and looking for a good place to stop for a cute and delicious lunch, Trellis Café is the place for you.
